Curt Holland

Curt can be described as having two loves in his life. The first, and most important, was his love for family and friends. Curt met his wife Amanda while they were both working at a Best Buy in Colorado Springs. They relocated to Denver in 2012 So that Amanda could pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. They were married July 22, 2014.Their daughter, Nora June, was born December 10, 2016, followed by their son Bennett Lee February 10, 2020. Their family unit just oozed with love, infecting everyone around them. Curt openly displayed his love for his family and friends. That love seemed to extend to all who knew him.

Curt’s second great love was law enforcement. As a small child, Curt loved his dad’s “Badgy Truck”, explaining that someday, he too would drive a “Badgy Truck” and wear the uniform and that badge. To that end, Curt attended the Southern Illinois University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice with a minor in Spanish. Curt’s reasons for wanting to be a police officer were the purest - to protect and serve.

His career in law enforcement began when he was hired by the Denver Sheriff’s Department. In 2016, Curt was hired by the Commerce City Police Department. His long term goal was to become as well-rounded of an officer as possible, eventually working his way into a supervisory role. He hit the ground running, volunteering for any specialized schooling that was made available. In his time with Commerce City, Curt served as a Patrol Officer, Hostage Negotiator, Traffic Crash Investigator, Firearms Range Officer, Field Training Officer, Traffic Enforcement Officer, and at the time of his death, a Detective.

Curt will be remembered most for his love of family and friends, quick smile, keen wit, and dry sense of humor. Simply put, to know Curt, was to love Curt. Curt was blessed with common sense and wisdom well beyond his years. His sense of duty, personal integrity, and moral code were unwavering and something we should all aspire to.

I have heard it said that the most important mark on a tombstone is the dash. The dash between the date of birth and date of death. During his short “dash”, Curt touched the lives of hundreds of people, and our lives were enriched because of it.

We were blessed to have Curt in our lives for 37 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

~Rest in Peace.
