OFFICER DAVID DUNKLE

BADGE:  2608

YEARS OF SERVICE:  30 Years

END OF WATCH:  September 15, 2013

David Kenneth Dunkle died Sept. 25, 2013, at his home in Westminster. He was born March 19, 1958, to Theodore and Fusako Dunkle in El Paso, Texas. David Dunkle spent a majority of his life devoted to the service of others. For over 30 years, Officer Dunkle held various positions in the Brighton, Fort Lupton, and most recently, Commerce City Police Department. He was a man that was truly committed to his career. He possessed an intimidating physical stature and commanding voice, but it was often his care and respect for others for which people remembered him. Even people just meeting Dave were often in awe of his natural charm. Those close to Dave knew a man that loved to laugh, play golf, and take an occasional trip to Blackhawk.

David is survived by his son, Josh J. Dunkle, of Denver; and brothers, Scott Dunkle, of Crestview, Fla., Bill Dunkle, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ray Dunkle, of El Paso, Texas. He has one grandchild, Dominic Suarez, in El Paso, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robbi Vesta Dunkle.
